"POLITICAL candidates often talk in broad terms when attempting to win
your support. They either don't know enough about an issue or problems, or
they hesitate being too specific for fear an opponent will pick apart a plan
or proposal. Ambition often stymies officials from taking risks or doing the
right thing once they're elected. They don't want to go against the party
leadership or their eyes are set on the next rung of the political ladder.
He correctly identifies school funding as a huge problem in Ohio. We
believe it's one of the most critical issues this state is facing. It is the
one issue that affects so many people and so much of our daily lives - jobs,
property values, quality of life, family budgets, local economy and more.
And it is not going away. Stebelton understands that. He knows fixing the
problem will take some time and cooperation along party lines. He is not
interested in scaling the political ladder. And he is willing to do what it
takes to make a real difference in the lives of Fairfield County residents.
At the end of the day, Stebelton says he wants to be among a group of people
who is instrumental in solving the state's school funding issue. We think he
can and should be part of that group - people who we would consider to be
some incredible leaders. - Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, November 6, 2006
"I realized from the beginning that there was something special about you when you took the time out of your busy schedule to give me a consultation and even consider representing me in what seemed to be a hopeless situation. I know that you could have turned it all away, but you didn't. Thank you so very much. I believe the results would have been disastrous had anyone else taken my case." - Letter from Client of Law Firm
"I believe Jerry represents the majority of the voters in Fairfield County. He will bring his own wide-ranging experience and common sense as well as his conservative spending habits to the statehouse." - Barbara Curtiss, Fairfield County Auditor
"Over the years, Jerry has proved to be a great community minded person. Whether serving on behalf of the city, our schools, our business community or our Republican Party, Jerry has ethically and skillfully been a proponent for his constituents. As a family man and member of his church, Jerry has actively taught those values so important to all of us here in Fairfield County. I have always enjoyed working with Jerry as a member of the Executive Committee." - Jon A. Slater, Jr., Fairfield County Treasurer
"It has been my privilege to know
Jerry Stebelton for nearly 30 years. I watched him work as an
attorney, public office holder, tireless worker for the Republican party of
Fairfield County and a supporter of many charitable and public interest
groups in the entire Fairfield County community. - Gene Wood, County Recorder
"... a dedicated, ethical individual who has proven that he can deal with the most difficult challenges and provide leadership for the long term in every arena of life in which he is involved. This is not a time to send unproven, untested or unknown people to the State House." - David Landefeld, Fairfield County Prosecuting Attorney
"A man of vision, maturity, wisdom and compassion.
Although there may be two candidates for State Rep, Jerry Stebelton is the
only real choice." - David Smith, City of Lancaster Mayor
"For the past 34 years I have watched Jerry Stebelton exhibit outstanding leadership in his business, church, Republican party and the entire community of Fairfield County."
- Art Wallace, Former Mayor, City of Lancaster “Jerry Stebelton is clearly the most qualified candidate for Fairfield County State Representative. His combination of extensive business experience, leadership and proven conservative values will make Fairfield County residents proud to have him represent us." - Robert Kalish, Mayor of Baltimore
"Jerry Stebelton is a trustworthy, experienced and knowledgeable leader of impeccable integrity who is able to bring people of differing opinions and positions together to solve very complex problems." - David Shaver, Mayor of Pickerington
"I would use four words to describe
Jerry Stebelton's eight years of service on the Lancaster City Schools Board
of Education: leadership, vision, maturity and passion." - John W. Baughman, Former Superintendent of Lancaster City Schools
"Jerry Stebelton is what Fairfield County and Ohio needs right now. One of our biggest problems is dealing with the funding of education – Jerry is ready to tackle that and I appreciate it! As a parent, I can’t think of anything more top of mind than the quality of education my children receive. Serving as President of the Pickerington Board of Education I also see what Ohio doesn’t need is anymore unfunded State Mandates. Each school district faces unique challenges based on the mix of its enrollment, geography and socio-economic mix that makes how it approaches problems best dealt with locally. To make the assumption that one answer will “fix” every district sells Ohio school children short. The answer is much more complex and needs to stay local. Join me in supporting Jerry Stebelton for State Representative on May 2nd." - Lisa Reade, President, Pickerington Board of Education
"It is with confidence and pride that
I recommend Jerry Stebelton for the Ohio General Assembly. I have
known and worked professionally with Jerry for over 30 years. Jerry is
a leader, he is honest, he is very intelligent, he is practical and he is
committed to public service. - John W. Snyder, C.P.A.
"Jerry is a skilled attorney and an experienced businessman. It is a rare opportunity to be able to send a candidate to the General Assembly that possesses both of these strengths. Jerry is at the stage of career when others may look to spend less time in community service, but Jerry instead looks to what he can do next. His motivation is service to Fairfield County, not how this position could serve his ongoing career objectives. I am confident that Jerry will be a successful advocate for Fairfield County and will make the needs and interests of our county heard in Columbus." - Linda L. Sheridan, C.P.A.
"Here in Fairfield County, Jerry
Stebelton has a long dedicated history working on core conservative issues.
His experience on Lancaster City Council, the Lancaster School Board and as
vice-chair of the County Republican Party equips him for the job. Jerry has
a sterling reputation working with people to solve problems. That tells us
he has what is required to build consensus and work within the House
Republican Caucus to achieve real solutions on real issues that truly matter
to our families, our livelihoods, our community and our state. - Tom E. Stewart, Ohio Oil & Gas Association
"Education funding in Ohio is a huge problem ...that will not
be fixed overnight. But we know nothing will change unless someone
spearheads the charge while building coalitions. That person must not be
afraid to prod others or ask tough questions. That person must embrace
change and must be a negotiator and coalition builder.
- Lancaster Eagle-Gazette, April 30, 2006
Endorsed by the Fairfield County Republican Executive committee on Thursday,
March 2, 2006.
